Open Gardens
While the gardens were scheduled to close at 2pm each day, some garden owners reported that they happily stayed open until later to accommodate the stream of people eager to enjoy their lovely gardens. Our appreciation goes to those garden owners who went the extra mile.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the open garden home owners for so generously giving of their time and energies to participate in this very popular aspect of the flower festival. We trust that the various charities to which the entrance fees will be donated have benefitted handsomely.
Entry fees from the open gardens weekend will be donated to the following local charitable organisations:
GADRA
Red Cross
Oak Haven & Settlers Close
Hospice
Lebone Centre
Rotary (Polio Plus programme)
SPCA
Thank you to the representatives of the various charities for being willing to man the garden gates to collect the entrance fees.
Thanks also to Daphne Timm and her colleagues at Pam Golding Grahamstown for setting out the open gardens direction boards over the weekend of the event and for providing attendance lists for each garden.
And then of course a very big thank you to the members of the public who turned out in numbers to view the beautiful gardens of Grahamstown.
